This is my own personal BMW race car.  I purchased it in January of 2012 from a friend who built it from the ground up in 2008.  Its a 1995 E36 325i chassis with a full 1998 M3 Running Gear swap.  Even the front and rear bumper covers from the M3 were fitted, so for all intents and purposes its effectively a 1998 M3 with a 325i only paint color and the more functional rectangular 325 mirrors.

Since I’ve owned it its done 24 track days and has seen zero racing.   I have detailed maintenance logs since taking ownership and a detailed list of all the parts that have gone into this car.   It is a great car, has been ultra reliable, and a serious blast to own and drive.  The only reason I am selling is an opportunity came up to purchase a car in a much faster class that I simply couldn’t pass up.

This car was originally built as a SpecE36 325i racer, but then converted to NASA GTS2 Spec with a complete install of a 1998 M3’s running gear.  To obtain proper HP/Weight a restrictor plate was ran to limit the HP, if left unfettered it could run in the GTS3 class, it has NASA log book for 2008-2011 for GTS2 class, and BMW Club Racing log book (as SpecE36) for 2008.  The previous owner placed 2nd place for the Norcal region his last year racing it, and by his own words considers himself “an old, slow driver”.

I’ll try to be as thorough and clear as possible as to all installed components.  The only outstanding issue is that the paint (like all race and track cars) has some dents, scratches, and rock chips.  I was quoted $600 to remove all dents from the car by a paintless dent repair tech, and another $500 to respray the front and rear bumpers, it was not a priority for me.

  • 3 / 2016: Amsoil Dominator 20w50 engine oil, Amsoil Severe Gear 75W90 Diff oil flush, Amsoil Torque Drive ATF fluid trans flush, RBF600 Brake Fluid Flush, New OEM Wheel Well liners, Replaced front rotors w/ATE Coated, Front left Lower Control Arm replaced with OEM, Four Wheel Alignment
  • 12 / 2015: Both front wheel bearings replaced (FAG Brand), Drive Belt Idler Pulley Replaced with OEM
  • 11 / 2014: Rebuilt head installed, MZ3 S54 Radiator installed, New Thermostat, New Head Gasket, New Valve Cover Gasket, Redline D4 Trans fluid, Amsoil Severe Gear 75W90 Diff Oil, Amsoil Dominator 20w50 oil.

I maintained fairly comprehensive logs, though things such as brake pad replacements, rotor replacements, air filter & MAF cleanings, brake fluid mini bleeds after swapping pads, and other simple tasks often never made it into the logs.  Same thing for tire mounts/dismounts & swaps.  I simply rotated tires around every few sessions to try to achieve even wear.
